Sony RX1R

I do suffer a little from GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). As evidence of that I recently spent some time reading up on the Sony RX1R which has a full frame sensor in a compact body with a fixed 35mm f2 Zeiss lens specially designed for the body.

I finally managed to secure a used one on eBay at the right price and took it out for the first time today.

Fairly happy with the results but learned that I have to be very careful about motion blur as it has no image stabilisation, so need to keep the shutter speed at a sensible setting. Luckily it has an intelligent Auto ISO feature which will help with that. That feature also makes Manual mode easy to use.

I have picked up a used EVF (electronic viewfinder) on the Internet for it though I didn't take that out today - that might have helped keep it more steady. The RX1R and accessories are priced very expensively by Sony so I needed to find them at the right price second hand.

Have ordered a Black Rapid SnapR 35 case which should arrive in the week which will help me keep the camera with me virtually all the time I am out and about, but not wanting to take my bigger Nikon full frame camera with me.

Liking the fixed 35mm lens format so far. Here are a few of my first shots with the camera on what was a beautiful autumn day today.
